History
The museum was built in 1954 to house the collection of antiques and artifacts donated by Somdet Phra Maha Weerawong, a former abbot of Wat Sutthachinda and an important monk in the Northeastern region of Thailand.
Collection
The museum's collection includes Buddha images from various periods of Thai history, including the Khmer period, the Ayutthaya period, and the Rattanakosin period. There are also bronze images, earthenware, ancient utensils, and woodcarvings.
Visiting the Museum
The Maha Weerawong National Museum is located in Nakhon Ratchasima, opposite the provincial hall. It is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm and is closed on public holidays. The entry fee is 50 baht. Here's some additional information for your visit:
