"Lumpini Park" was the first public park in Thailand. His Majesty King Rama VI granted land which was his personal property at Tambon Sala Daeng, amounting to 360 rai. Lumpini Park is now the largest public park in Bangkok.
King Rama VI wanted Lumpini Park to be a public garden. with players and recreational facilities such as football fields, children's fields, and swimming pools. King Rama VI given named this park "Lumpini Park". Lumbini is a name derived from Lumbiniwan, a district in Nepal where Lord Buddha was born.
There is a 2.543-kilometer jogging track in the park. You can also bring a bicycle to exercise in the park from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.The park is open from 4:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., but bicycles can be accessed from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
How to get there:
- Take the MRT to Silom station. And take exit 1, you will find Lumpini Park in front.
- Take the BTS and get off at Sala Daeng Station. And you go through Sky Walk to MRT Silom Station and take Exit 1, you will see Lumpini Park in front.
