A Guide to Surin Beach
Surin beach in Phuket is one of the better beaches in Phuket and offers several luxury hotels alongside the more laid-back beach restaurants and bars. The beach itself is about 1km long with a small beach road going along its length. This small road is lined with small restaurants and a few bars and a club.
Twin Palms resort is the main hotel on the beach and the associated Surin beach Catch Beach Club is their beach bar and restaurant. They have a good size area on the north end of the beach with luxury sunbeds, leading into the bar and deck area that is perfect for a spot of food and drink during the day and is a lively open-air bar in the evening. This place is the place to be for new years eve and Catch offers drink and food packages to get you in the mood. They provide a dance floor and decent DJs in the early hours of the morning. The luxury yachts parked off the beach spill out into the action too.
The other lively part of the beach is Stereolabs which is an open-air bar and club further down the beach offering bar food, music, and plenty of drinks. The place gets going later on in the evening and whilst it gets pretty loud and boozy it is a much more tasteful venue than those found in the busy beach town of Patong.
Between these two main venues are several restaurants of varying degrees of quality, but on the whole, they are all nice places to grab some food with Surin beach as the backdrop.
The water is generally pretty calm with a few small waves. The wet season sees a few bigger waves that can be used for bodyboarding or surfing. There are some submerged rocks to the south of the Catch beach club which are only visible at low tide so make sure you know what's in the water before you go diving headfirst.
There is a small bar right at the end of the beach on the south side on the rocks which offers amazing views along Surin beach. It is not the nicest looking of bars but the views, relaxed atmosphere, and cheap drinks make this place well worth a visit for a couple of sun-downers.
Surin beach is about 40 minutes to the airport, 15 to Kamala beach, and 35 to Patong, so all in all it is pretty well located to access all that you need when staying in Phuket.
