close to the national museum, grand palace, wat Phra, and golden mount temple; a few minutes away from Khaosan road, so it is a more quiet place and easy to find; serving excellent American breakfast; very good service.
Easy to get to from either airport. Bus to BTS Central, then another bus to Democracy Monument. Then a short walk to the Wan Chat Bridge. Complimentary fruit juice on arrival. Friendly staff. Wi-Fi did not work in our room on the fourth floor, but it did work in the deluxe suite on the fifth floor.
We had a deluxe room, no tea and coffee-making facilities and the towels were a bit thin. The balcony lacked a couple of chairs to sit outside and enjoy the view. Western-style breakfast and very nice to sit in the courtyard by the pool. 30THB charge to use one of the three computers for half an hour. Dining room meals were pretty good value for money.
Great location, within walking distance to Khao San Road, if that's what you're into, otherwise grab a taxi and make sure the meter is on. Right by the Wan Chat bridge, check out the Rolling Bar, live music some nights, and good music played when the band is not there. The Lamphu Tree House is good value for money, we would definitely stay there again.
This place was a challenge to find - our taxi ended up dropping us several blocks away despite giving the driver the hotel's map, and we had to walk about 15 minutes to find it. But when we got there, we were greeted with a room upgrade and the staff was nice.
The room was a little worn and not exactly spotless, but acceptable. The best part is the pretty patio and the food. We ate lunch there and liked it so much, we went back for dinner. (Although be warned that the hotel sits right next to the canal and there are mosquitos.) Bangkok sightseeing wore us out and it was nice to be able to just relax at the hotel with cocktails and a nice meal before going upstairs to bed.
We went up to their rooftop bar which was mentioned in Lonely Planet, but it was not staffed and appeared to have been closed for a while. Too bad because it looked like it would have been nice. You can walk to the major tourist sights, but it isn't easy. Lots of traffic and crossing streets is an adrenaline-inducing adventure. Overall it's a good value in Bangkok and a quaint place to come back to after a busy day. Stayed in August 2013, and traveled as a couple. Read more all reviews and Check the rate
